Some time ago, I made funeral arrangements for my mother at a funeral home. I have changed my mind and would like to use another funeral home. What are my options, if any?

You may move any funeral arrangements, including any preneed contract that may have been signed, to your new funeral home of choice. In the State of Ohio, as in most states, the pre-paid funeral may be transferred to another funeral home. Simply contact your new funeral home of choice to handle the funeral arrangements and explain your situation. The new funeral home will handle all arrangements to ensure that this transition occurs as you request, with minimum involvement required on your part, thereby relieving you of any pressure or discomfort in your decision. While funds may have been placed with a funeral home for pre-arranged funerals, in the State of Ohio, the funeral home selected to handle the service at the time of need is the funeral home to be paid with those funds.

Do I need to purchase a casket for a cremation?

No, we offer two cremation options for which a casket purchase is not required. You may elect a direct cremation, such as the Charles D. Potti Tribute Cremation Package, whereby the container required for the cremation process is included. Or, if you prefer to have a viewing with calling hours, you may rent a low cost casket and save hundreds of dollars. There is no need to pay for a casket to also be cremated, unless that is your choice.

Do we need to purchase a separate grave for a cremation urn burial or may we bury the urn on an existing family owned grave?

Most local cemeteries will allow a cremation urn containing cremains to be buried on the grave of a family member with the written permission of living family members. Some cemeteries will allow more than one cremation urn containing cremains to be buried on a family cemetery plot. Please contact us and we will research these options for you at no charge.
