Patricia K. Kangas, 74, of Ashtabula, took her final journey August 21, 2019 with family and the compassionate Hospice team by her side at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.
She was born July 25, 1945 in Ashtabula, the daughter of Leonard and Helen (Ketola) Kangas.
Pat graduated from Harbor High School in 1963 excelling in sports, and going on to play softball on the city rec league and volleyball for the Spot Café. Pat had a love for fishing, camping, playing cards, and going to casinos, taking many trips to Canada, Maine, Florida and Las Vegas. Cooking was one of her passions, with fish frys, clambakes and grilled foods for gatherings. She watched the Cleveland Indians, Browns and Cavs faithfully. Pat was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.
She managed the State Liquor Store for over 24 years until they closed in 1994. She then drove the city bus for ACTS, retiring in 2000.
Pat will be missed by all, especially her BFF with whom she talked (Chris, thank you for all that and all the meals) and Lexi, who sat by her side alerting Judy if she needed help. Rest in peace, Pat.
She is survived by her sisters, Jean Cupido and VIcky Kangas; brother, Jack (Gail) Kangas; sister-in-law, Reiko Kangas; nieces, Jackie (Rick) Featsent, Janet (Bob) Fish, and Jolene (Kangas) Hulka; her caregiver, Judy Palm, with whom she shared her home; and her special dog, Lexi.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Joel; Warren and Gladys Palm; and the loves of her life, Nikki and Casey.

A celebration of Pat's life will be 1:00-3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2019 at the Elk's Lodge, 3115 Lake Road West, Ashtabula, Ohio 44005.
