Marie J. Shupska

Marie J Shupska, age 100 years and 5 months, of Geneva, Ohio, passed away at home, Thursday, January 10, 2019. She was born July 27, 1918, the 8th of 10 children. She was born to Lillian (Jankovsky) and Joseph P Knapp. She lived in Geneva OH most of her life.

She loved to travel and spent a lot of time in Florida, Colorado, and New York visiting family. She married William J. Clarke June 28, 1941,and together they had three children, Rodger, Sharon (Shirley) and Robert.

She later married Raymond D. Shupska on March 9 , 1951. They had a son, Michael J. Raymond, a lifelong resident of Geneva OH and  founder of Shupska Contractors. He preceded her in death on April 21, 2011. Marie was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on July 30, 1958 at Yankee Stadium in New York City. She was one of 7,136 persons to be baptized that day at the second largest baptism in the history of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was very active in her Christian ministry sharing the good news of the kingdom from the Bible with others.  She was active in preaching up to the month before she died.

She is survived by her children, Rodger Clarke of Geneva OH, Sharon (Mike) Shirley of Aguilar CO, Robert (Vicki) Clarke of Lindley NY, and Michael (Pegi)  Shupska of Geneva OH; her grandchildren, Errol, Alexandria Clarke, Rhonda Heyburn, Todd Redmond, Anjanette Redmond, Jessica, Christopher Clarke,  Michael II, and Raymond Shupska; great grandchildren, Errol, Priscilla, Ahliza, Walter, Haila, Jarrod, Logan, Isabella, Peyton, Brandy, Michael lll, and Cody; and many  nieces, nephews and cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband;  and five brothers and four sisters. 

Memorial service will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 19, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 7320 Middle Ridge Road, Madison, Ohio with Jason Cole officiating.
