Joanne Irene (Luoma) Tobias

Joanne Irene Tobias, 84, died November 21, 2020 at her home in Ashtabula, Ohio.  She was born January 7, 1936 in Ashtabula to John and Elizabeth (Costa) Luoma.  

She lived most of her life in Ashtabula and was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish - Mother of Sorrows Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.  Joanne held many jobs throughout her life, among them as a caregiver to many friends and family, and working at the election polls.  She brought color and light to the world as a generous, sharing, caring, woman who was always willing to help others.  Joanne enjoyed singing, dancing, reading, going to Bingo and the casinos.  She especially loved going to hear her son, Steve, play in his band.  She also enjoyed watching football, baseball and basketball.  She was full of life and always kept busy.  Her greatest joy in life was spending time with friends and family.  Joanne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, loved by all.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Harold, in 2001; and sister, Kathleen (Luoma) Mickelson.

She is survived by her sons, Tom (Mitzi) Tobias and Steve (Charlene) Tobias; daughter, Mary (Todd) Snitcher; grandchildren, Jason, Evan, Cody, and Cassandra Tobias, and Scott and Justin; brother, John (Wilma) Luoma; niece, Robin Foderetti; nephew, Johnny (Carolyn) Luoma; and her family dogs, Willy and Ripley.

Mass of a Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Our Lady of Peace Parish - Mother of Sorrows Church, 1464 W. 6th St., Ashtabula, Ohio with Fr. Raymond Thomas officiating.   Visitation is one hour prior to time of service at the Church. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens in Kingsville, Ohio.
