James L. Taylor, 76, of Andover, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home, following an illness of cancer, on February 1, 2022, with his beloved wife, Sheryl, at his bedside. James was born April 24, 1945 in Ashtabula, Ohio, the son of Marjorie (Skidmore) and Clyde Taylor, Jr.
James proudly served in the U. S. Coast Guard and retired as a telephone cable splicer. He enjoyed working part-time at the Port Authority in Conneaut, Ohio. He belonged to the National Electrical Union. James was an avid fisherman, NASCAR and AMA Supercross fan. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He will be missed by many, especially his dog, Chewy.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sheryl (Doyle) Taylor; sons, Jason Taylor of Euclid, Ohio and Bryan (Nichole) Taylor of Andover, Ohio; brother, Kenneth (Carol) Smith of Austinburg, Ohio; sister, Susie (Terry) Knoebel of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Kylie and Aiden; and many nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Marjorie (Taylor) Giannell and Clyde Taylor, Jr.
The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care of James by the VA Clinic, Ashtabula County Medical Center, the office of Dr. Pattali, and Bella Care Hospice.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2022 at Potti Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1329 Lake Avenue, Ashtabula, Ohio 44004. Visitation hours are 12:00 p.m. until time of service on Friday. Rev. David Hines of The First Baptist Church of Kingsville, Ohio will officiate. Burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery in Ashtabula.
