Jack R. Perskari, 84, passed away January 22, 2021. Born June 13, 1936 to Jacob and Leona Perskari, he was baptized, confirmed, and married at Bethany Lutheran Church. He graduated in 1954 from Harbor High School. He served with the Merchant Marine on the Great Lakes and joined the U.S. Navy in 1959, serving proudly as a member of VP56 through 1962. Jack was employed at Cabot Titanium, Rockwell Brake. He met Judith Loose on October 3, 1964 at a TGIF dance at Ashtabula YMCA; they married August 7, 1965. He was employed at the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company for 27 years, retiring in 1993.
Jack and Judy have been faithful members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Jefferson. Jack was part of the first Ashtabula Township Volunteer FD EMT class. He served as a docent at the Ashtabula Maritime and Surface Transportation Museum. He was a patron of Kingsville Library. He was instrumental in reconstructing the Memorial Carillon to WWII veterans. His interests included camping, sailing, blacksmithing, folk music, and community service. Jack was much loved, well respected, and will be sadly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; uncle, Matt, sister, Rae Smith, and grandson, Caleb Hysell.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judith Perskari; daughter, Ann Hysell; son, John (Teena) Perskari; grandson, Mason Hysell; sister, Boneita Perskari; and many nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life will be 1:00-4:00 p.m Sunday, June 6, 2021 at his home, 1202 Sill Road, Ashtabula OH 44004.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Jefferson OH, Ashtabula Maritime and Surface Transportation Museum, or Kingsville Library.
