George T. Davis, age 90, passed away peacefully at home on October 8, 2021, surrounded by family. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 9, 1931, he relocated to Ashtabula with his parents, James P. and Louise R. (Kelz) Davis, making Ashtabula his forever home.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953. George spent time in several areas of Germany during his 2-year tour. He worked for Western and Southern before becoming a truck driver for Lyons Transportation Lines and retiring after 30 years of service.
On September 13, 1954, he married the love of his life Elizabeth (Betty) (Kurki). George was known for being the funny guy. He loved being around family, especially kids. He was a member of Saint Andrew's Bobola Catholic Church, a lifetime charter member of Saybrook Firefighters Association, the Teamsters Union, V.F.W., Moose Lodge, and American Legion.
He is survived by his children, Catherine Romine and Barbara (Kim) Spencer; brother, Clifford (Skip) (Peggy) Davis; sisters-in-law, Leone Davis and Theresa Davis; his niece, and nephew Renee and Dennis Dibble with whom he resided; grandchildren, Patrick (Janice) Spencer, Matthew (Heather) Spencer, Justin (Meghan) Bovee, and Lindsey (Joe) Vitale; great-grandchildren; Christopher and Christena Spencer, Kayla and Dylan Vitale, and Gabriella and Camden Bovee; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and his faithful dog, "Buddy."
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elizabeth; daughter, Jeanette Bovee; brothers, James (Dorothy), Gordon, Bill, Joe (Kathy); and sisters, Mary Lou Askey and Marguerite "Peg" Anastasia.
