Elizabeth R. Makynen

Elizabeth R. Makynen, age 86, passed away October 29, 2019.  She was born August 13, 1933 in Andover, OH, the daughter of Frank Crow and Susan (Burr) Crow. 

Elizabeth lived in Ashtabula most of her life. She worked at Ashtabula Salvage/Hercules Steel in Ashtabula as a secretary and lab tech until retiring in 1996. She moved to Cleveland, Ohio  with her son, Gilbert E. Reed, Jr., until 2010, after which time she returned to the Ashtabula area to live with her daughter, Virginia C. Sayre. She enjoyed taking all her grandchildren and family out to eat. She loved spending time with her family. She was an avid bowler in her younger years. Elizabeth was a life long member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 943 in Ashtabula.

She is survived by her daughter, Virginia C. (Ralph) Sayre of Conneaut; step daughters, Nancy Johnson of Georgia and Deborah M. Shank of Colorado; granddaughters, Sandy (Mike) Lago of Conneaut, Staci (Reid) Wadsworth of Dorset, and Sheri Sayre of Conneaut; great grandchildren, Cody Sayre of Conneaut, Ryan Lago of Conneaut, Mike (Chelsi) Lago II of Conneaut, Zayne Wadsworth of Dorset, Keagan Wadsworth of Dorset, Chasitie Sayre-Henderson of Conneaut; and great great grandchild, Mike Lago III of Conneaut.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Gilbert E. Reed Sr. in 1968 and John A. Makynen in 1979; sons, Gilbert E. Reed Jr, and Joe R. Reed; step children, Gilbert L. Reed, Michael E. Reed, David L. Reed, Michael Makynen, and Luanne Honeycutt; several nieces, nephews, and great great grandchildren; brothers, Newton Crow, Elwin Crow, Warren Crow; and sisters, Luci Tuttle and Sarah Thompson Bowers.

A celebration of  life will be held 1:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 24, 2019  at the Conneaut Eagles, 171 Main St. Conneaut, OH 44030. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the American Heart Association.
