Dennis M. Stredney, 72, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Burton Healthcare Center in Burton, Ohio. The son of James and Marie (Farkasofsky) Stredney, he was born January 12, 1951 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Dennis attended St. Monica School in Garfield Heights, Ohio prior to his family moving to Ashtabula, Ohio where he finished his elementary years at Mother of Sorrows School in Ashtabula Harbor and graduated in 1969 from St. John High School. He graduated magna cum laude in Graphic Design and Illustration from Kent State University. He was employed as a graphic designer, having worked at Waxman Industries and as a freelance designer in Richmond, Virginia. Prior to his graphic design years, he was a lead guitar musician and singer/songwriter, beginning with The RayVens, a local Ashtabula band, and then joined other bands, including Dynamite, Freeport and Windfall in Northeast Ohio, playing several venues in the area. His favorite pastime was working on and playing his guitars.
He married Heather LeLoup in1977, in Painesville, Ohio and moved to Midlothian, Virginia where they started a family with their sons, Justin and Michael Stredney. He relocated back to Northeast Ohio where he lived the last 20 years.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his sons, Justin and Michael Stredney of Powhatan, Virginia; brothers, Dale (Kathy) Stredney of Aurora, Illinois and Don (Marsha McDevitt) Stredney of Sunbury, Ohio; sisters, Jan (David) Potti of Concord, Ohio, Joyce Hinkle of Painesville, Ohio, and Juliann (Scott) Erdman of Horseheads, New York; nephews, Ryan Stredney, Matthew (Beth) Stredney, James D (Samantha Ly) McDevitt-Stredney, Noah (Ziyi Li) McDevitt-Stredney, Nick Hinkle, and Tanner Erdman; nieces, Samanatha Potti, Britta (Peter) Brownlee, Sarah (Marty) Maloney, Ellen (Erin Kennedy) McDevitt-Stredney, and Katey Hinkle; grand-nephews, William, Benjamin, and AJ; grand-nieces, Zoey and Kiley; uncle, Gerald "Jerry" Farkasofsky of Norton, Ohio; and several cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held late Spring 2024 at the family's convenience.
