Debra L. Cary

Debra L. Cary, age 66, of Saybrook, Ohio, born to Edith (Austin) and Robert Cary on October 19, 1953, died on Thursday, August 6, 2020.

She graduated from Ashtabula High School, earned her bachelor's degree from Lake Erie College and her master's degree from Youngstown State University. Debra was a longtime English teacher who dearly loved her students, or, as she referred to them, "her children."  She had a terrific sense of humor and opened her arms to countless cats who became her best friends.

She is survived by her son, Evan Robert Cary Tobias (Michelle Massucci) of Willoughby; sisters, Susan (Jeff) Leist of Concord and Denise Schiff of Beachwood; nephews, Kent (Victoria) and Kyle (Betsy) Sinkler and Maththew Schiff; brothers-in-law, Scot Sinkler and Alan Schiff; and her beloved cats, Jackie, Roger, Larry and Benny.  She is also survived by close friends, Shari Krause and Liisa Dorman.  

Debra was preceded in death by her niece, Erika SInkler.

As per her wishes, no services will be held.  Memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA or to the Harbor Cat Rescue, 1016 Joseph Avenue,  Ashtabula OH 44004.
