David D. Haytcher, age 82, a lifelong resident of Ashtabula, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2022, at the Cleveland Clinic following an extended illness. He was born November 26, 1939 in Ashtabula, the son of Harry E. and Julia (Waltari) Haytcher.
David was a proud military veteran of the United States Army. He was a 1957 graduate of Harbor High School. Always enjoying cars, he studied auto shop in high school and always enjoyed working with automobiles throughout his life. David gathered a great deal of knowledge working in different fields during his career, including Ford auto dealerships, Ashtabula Bow Socket, Perry Nuclear Power Plant, and finally retiring from First Merit Bank as maintenance and locksmith for many of their Northeast Ohio branches.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and many pets over the years, as well as photography, woodworking, target shooting, home improvement projects and building and maintaining his beautiful yard full of plants and lovely gardens.
David is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lorene Haytcher; brother, Bernie Haytcher; son, Ben (Danielle) Haytcher; daughter, Lori (Steve) Lindsay; two grandchildren, Keith (Jessica) Haytcher and Kevin (Bonnie) Haytcher; and seven great grandchildren, Stella, Zepher, Hurley, Michelle, Ryker, Rhett ad Sally.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Judith; and brother, Harry.
A Celebration of Life will be held 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Potti Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1329 Lake Avenue, Ashtabula OH 44004.
