Lorraine M. (Cook) Lillvis

Lorraine M. (Cook) Lillvis, age 88, of Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at Silver Sands. She was born April 2, 1931, in Ashtabula, the daughter of John and Mamie (Pohto) Cook. She was raised and attended schools in Ashtabula with her four sisters and two brothers. After high school, she earned her cosmetology certificate in Cleveland, Ohio, before returning to Ashtabula and marrying Reggie Lillvis in 1953. They were married for 57 years, during which they spent Saturday nights dancing and shared picnic lunches on Sundays at Walnut Beach with their three children. Throughout her life, Lorraine enjoyed having daily morning coffee with her sister, Jackie (Cook) Rapose, and their friends at Rose’s in the Harbor. She was active with Bethany Lutheran Church and their monthly Nisu bread sales. She was an exceptional baker, making desserts for her family for all occasions.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband and siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Julie (Ken) Mayer of Lake Clarke Shores, Florida; sons, Martin Lillvis of Lake Worth, Florida and Dean (Sue) Lillvis of Ashtabula; five grandchildren, Eric (Wendy) Mayer, Andrew Mayer, Christie (Dylan Engelman) Mayer, Kristen (Craig Bantz) Lillvis, and Joshua (Ellie) Lillvis; great-grandson, Lawsen Mayer; and many nieces, nephews and loved ones.

Private graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Memory Gardens in North Kingsville, with Father David Bridling of Our Lady of Peace Parish officiating.

The family wishes to thank Jane, Susan, Jennifer, Rebecca, and Emily of Silver Sands for the love they provided. The family also thanks Alice, Kim, Donna, Maureen, and Marilyn of Hospice of the Western Reserve for their care.
