Jackolyn Palm Obituary

Jackolyn Marie Palm, age 86, passed away November 10, 2018 at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home in Kingsville OH.   She was born February 8,1932 in Ashtabula, the daughter of the late Floyd and Beatrice (English) March.  She met Donald W. Palm when she was age 15, and she liked him immediately as there was a chemistry between them.  On October 10, 1949 they were married in Kentucky.  (She said she was old enough then, but it will always be a mystery.) They were one year away from 50 years of marriage, when Don passed away July 26, 1998.  She worked 26 years as a cashier at Gray Drug and Revco Drug Stores, then retired to enjoy her family and grandchildren.

Jackie was loved by many because she was a beautiful person--inside and out.  Non-judgmental, she took you at face value; if you were good to her, she was good to you.  She served as the chaplin for the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 103 for three years and was an active member of the V.F.W.  Always a smile on her face, she always wanted to help our veterans.  When not doing community work, she loved to dance, gamble a little (one ticket is all it takes), spend time with family, and just enjoy life.

She is survived by her five children,  John (Connie) Palm of Conneaut Donald (Marcia) Palm of Kingsville, Doug (Denise) Palm of Delaware OH, Rena (Mike) Hadlock of Ashtabula, and Tina Palm (Robin Criffield) of Carboro NC.  And she did not want us to forget her companion of almost 20 years, Hans Miggo, who was always there for her.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jenny (Mike) Girouard, Aimee (Ryan) Watts, Donald (Sarah) Palm, Jill Palm, Alan Palm, and Victoria (Matt) Orlando; her great-grandchildren, Lauren, Evan and Benjamin Girouard, Ginny and Norah Watts, Taylor and Carolina Orennmaa, and Olivia and Everly Palm; her brothers, Vaughn Richmond and Terry Rau; and her sister, Carole Sue Wyrich.  There are also many nieces and nephews and their extended families who will miss her, as well as her favorite grand-dog, Peanut, and of course, her American Legion Family.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; her devoted husband, Donald; her loving sister, Delores Notte and her husband, James Notte; her nephew, Michael Notte; and her great-nephew, Tyler Aiken.

Her family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the women and men at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home for making her last years special.  What great care!  It will never be forgotten how well they all took care of Jackie.  And they offer a special thank you to Barb, Ellen and Crystal, we love you all; and to the Western Reserve Hospice team, you are all guardian angels and we thank you for everything.

A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the chapel of Greenlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, North Kingsville OH.  A gathering of family and friends will follow 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the American Legion Post 103, 1804 W. 19th St., Ashtabula OH 44004.  Contributions may be made to the family in care of Rena Hadlock.
