Elizabeth (Betty) Hietikko, age 85, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018 in Ashtabula County Medical Center. She was born in Warren, Ohio on December 18, 1933, the daughter of Andrew and Mary (Timko) Petrilla. She graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in January 1952. In December 1953, she married Edwin Hietikko. She attended Kent State University. Betty retired from American Welding and Manufacturing Company in 1991, at which time she and her husband moved to Ashtabula. Her husband died in 1996.
She is survived by her children, Ann (James) Fuller, Amy Hietikko, and Laura Harley, all of Ashtabula, Mary E. (James) Gates of Lordstown, Ohio, and Andrew (Pamela) Hietikko of Howland, Ohio; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and brothers, Paul (Anna) Petrilla and David (Rosemary) Petrilla.
She had been a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Ashtabula and a former member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Warren, Ohio, the Finnish American Heritage Association, Haywood Beach Corporation, as well as multiple other organizations. Her hobbies were reading, quilting, traveling and tracing her families in Europe.
There will be no calling hours. Cremation has taken place and A Celebration of Life will be held at Saybrook Park in the summer of 2019.
