Darlene Sweeney Obituary

Now I lay me down to sleep.
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
If I die before I wake,
I pray the Lord my soul to take.

A white mist appeared at heaven's gate as Darlene Sweeney passed through. She was embraced by her son, JoJo Sweeney. He led her gently to be reunited with her family: sister, Anita Lou Sweeney Pratt; brothers, William Sweeney and Chuck Sweeney; father, Jake Sweeney; and mother, Gladys Atwell Sweeney. They all came together with a big family hug. She was also greeted by both sets of grandparents, Charlie and Lou Atwell, and Luther and Belle Sweeney. Holding for the first time the babies gone too soon: niece, Jennifer Pratt; cousins, Shauna Marie Howell and Joshua Michael Hopkins, and over to her other side were her other cousins, Sissy Vaughan and Eddie Neff, both taken too soon.

Darlene leaves behind: daughter, Victoria Nichole Sweeney, son-in-law, Gilbert Arnett and their children, Jerron Mayle and Savannah Stack; granddaughter, Chastity Sweeney(Robert) Gray and their children Nevaeh, Alliah, Joey, Brezden, and Zayden; nephew, Jeramy(Cindy) Pratt; nieces, Karianne Sweeney and Sarah Sweeney; nephew, Joshua Sweeney; niece, Angel(Joe) McKinley from Arkansas; great nephew, Tyler Hopkins from Jefferson; aunts, Linda Hughart from Jefferson and Debra(Curtiss) Richards from Dorset; uncle, Douglas Atwell from Ashtabula; and cousins, Jeff(Barb) Hopkins, Brett(Tracie) Hopkins, Matt(Holly) Hopkins, Luci Malczewski, Thurmon(Jean) Vaughn, Casey Vaughn, and Lurell(Wendy) Vaughn.

Darlene enjoyed reading, collecting anything Cherokee Indian related, and planning picnics and cookouts for her family. She was very well known for her baking abilities, especially cheesecakes, and sharing her baked goods with her friends, family, and anyone who came to her home. She always offered coffee and something freshly baked. She leaves behind many good memories. Many of those memories will bring tears in the future. We are happy in knowing she is in a better place and is finally reunited with her family in Heaven. So long Susie... ... ...
